The final stretch!
So in the past 4 days, we have chosen a new topic, conducted an experiment, averaged the results and have managed to complete our entire lab write up! Horray! All that is left for our group to do this week is to draw our graphs and put our board together. I am feeling much better about our project and I think that it has turned out very well. Hopefully nothing changes within the next 5 days...

We now actually have a topic
So the connection that we had with the two different biofuel companies fell through so we were unable to follow through with our experiment. We have decided to change our topic yet again. We have decided to research the effects of natural energy drinks versus chemical drinks on reaction time. We will be measuring peoples reaction time to grabbing a ruler in mid air while on natural and chemical energy drinks and then one experiment while not on an energy drink.

We changed our topic again!
Hello again,
So yesterday my group and I went to the Central Library to meet and discuss or project and we decided to tweak it again! Which is good because it is due in like a month. Yikes! We decided that we would compare two biofuel companies with in Colorado, Blue Sun and Solix. We set up meeting times and are currently waiting for them to reply to tell us when we will be able to visit their companies. We will be comparing the two companies efficiency, regarding what plants they use for biofuels, how fast those plants can be harvested, how effective the energy harvesting of those plants are, the amount of energy that can be obtained from each harvest of that plant, and finally, the amount of waste that is produced from each harvest. After researching both companies tactics, we will then state which company and plant we believe is the most effective for the production of bio-fuels. We have started checking out some books and all of us are beginning to research biofuels. I think this will work for G4 and I think it will be very interesting! Hopefully we won't change our topic again!

We now kind of have a topic
Hello again,
so today we have decided that we are going to test how fast algae grows in comparison to other biofuels. We feel that we will be able to decide how effective and efficient either of these biofuels are depending on how fast they are able to be created with the smallest impact on their surroundings.

Hello again, On Thursday we went into the computer lab for the second time to work on our projects. We have decided to change our topic from hydroelectric power to some type of bio fuel. What we really want to do is look at the effectiveness and energy efficiency of algae but another group was thinking about doing that so as of right now, we are kind of up in the air as to what we are going to be doing for G4. Which is slightly horrifying! I don't know, I'm sure it will all work out.

G4 Project
On Thursday we created blogs to let IB know how much time we spent on our projects. So far we have created our blogs and have decided what our topic will be. That and my group has come up will some fantastic names for blogs but I won't ruin that by just stating what the names are. My topic for G4 is discussing the efficiency of obtaining energy through hydropower. It is amazing that some major cities rely almost exclusively on hydropower for obtaining electricity and yet it is not considered a renewable energy source because of how it affects the habitats and the water flow of the rivers it dams up. I can't wait to learn more about it!
